It is a protection of the 1st amendment. Everything that references God already should be kept as it is part of our history, but if you don't want to include it on new things then don't. If a person doesn't was to stay the pledge of allegiance because of the "one nation under God," then they have that right. There is no need to erase what is already there. If it is a big deal, then do a popular vote. If the mass majority says remove, then that is what the people want. As long as we can still believe in whatever religion we want that doesn't physical, not emotional, hurt someone then we should be allowed to believe what we want. I say not emotionally because there are those few people that like to abuse the system to have their way just because they can.
