I will always lean toward the life option when available, but I recognize often the long-term health of parent or child doesn't allow for this. I also disagree with so heavily legislating such emotionally, physically, mentally, and financially charged decisions. Instead of removing funds from organizations like Planned Parenthood, we need to support more K-12 sex education, and more general awareness surrounding sex, pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. Also, if we took away the double standard in the workplace for women by requiring parental leave for both genders for at least 3 months, providing more societal support for single parents, decreasing the red tape around adoption and foster care, and removing the stigma around birth control more parents would be less inclined to have an abortion. We need to not just worry about the loss of life with abortions but the quality of life surrounding the abortion debate.
