Just like our current system downplays the effects the African Americans and minorities feel in America, Critical Race Theory villanizes crucial people in our nation's history which young children naturally take too far. They have a hard time seeing that people are complex and aren't all good or all bad. We do need to still acknowledge the natural racism in our society before we can continue to heal and move forward, but that could be done better by teaching students to question their first instincts and think critically about why they think, feel, and act the way that they do.
