Why do you think some people struggle to understand the concept of 'white privilege' and how would you explain it?

Some people grow up in different places where white privilege is not that common therefor they do not notice it.
Lack of proximity to a subject matter does not inherently inhibit one's ability to understand a topic. However in many cases there is a willful disregard for the presence of white privilege for those who feel as though they do not directly benefit from it (i.e. therefore it doesn't exist)
