You said, and I quote “why should we not base important laws off the truths therein?” That’s an extremely vague statement, which was said in the manner of a wide range of “important laws”, which could easily encompass a wider breadth than just abortion. When laws favor a religion’s beliefs, especially when written in the context of the Bible (as our conversation was previously referring to), that destroys the choice of which society can work. In regards to abortion, the Bible has said NOTHING even remotely close to stating that abortion isn’t allowed, and in biblical texts such as Exodus 21: 23-25, it details a story in which a woman is hurt while pregnant, and suffers a miscarriage. The attackers are forced to pay a fine, while if the injuries directly hurt the mother after that part, they would suffer in kind. If anything, the Bible suggests that the life of a fetus is less than that of a baby or fully-developed human being. Abortions were also a nuanced and practiced procedure during the times of ancient Israel, especially during Jesus’ ministry, but he said nothing of the subject at all, at most, the only thing mildly close to that subject was the woman with the issue of blood touching Jesus’ robes and being healed. When you reference “important laws”, that could’ve easily meant things such as religious freedom, gay rights, corporate regulations, or taxation. When these types of policies are based entirely off of a religious book, that destroys the chances for someone to actually CHOOSE those policies of their own accord in the first place, so not only does it exclude those who don’t believe, but it forced them to deal with policies that they’d not have much choice in due to lack of religious affiliation in that subject.

"I knit you together in your mother's womb" says something else. And no, abortion was not a widespread practise in ancient Israel – only a fringe minority of Death Cultists ever practised it.

Doesn’t state that it still has the same moral value as the mother, merely that life is formed inside the womb, bug surprise. It never once says anything about abortion, that alone makes the argument of Bible based pro-life laws rather shaky.

The Bible says that "You shall not murder" and “Whoever takes a human life shall surely be put to death." And "As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child." Plus the verse you quoted about a man hitting a pregnant woman – when it said he shall pay a fine, it was only on the condition that NO HARM was caused to either the woman or the child. The quotation was taken way out of context to suit your narrative.
