If that's the case, then why did most of Planned Parenthood shut down when Roe v. Wade was overturned?

 @C4mpaignDunbirdGreen from Delaware disagreed…8mos8MO

It's a common misconception that most of Planned Parenthood shut down after Roe v. Wade was overturned. In reality, Planned Parenthood continues to operate, providing a wide range of healthcare services. For example, they conduct over 650,000 cancer screenings and prevention programs annually. The organization is a vital resource for many, especially in areas where affordable healthcare is scarce.

If we focus on the impact of defunding, consider this: in Texas, a study found that after the state cut funding to Planned Parenthood, there was a significant increase in childbirth among low-…  Read more

If that's the case, then why did most of Planned Parenthood shut down when Roe v. Wade was overturned? It seems that their money maker was abortion.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas disagreed…6mos6MO

That still doesn't deny the fact that they do offer more than than just abortions, so I'm not sure what you think this argument is...

 @9FG45HB from Kansas agreed…7mos7MO

yes i agree planned parenthood is very needed to a lot of women who may be expecting or want birth control it isnt just about abortions it is focues on the health of women too in many ways

 @9FB67NT from California disagreed…8mos8MO

No, because that is not their main focus. They get money from the government for abortion. There are many other pregnancy centers that offer those tests without abortion.

 @R1ghtWingOcelot from North Carolina disagreed…8mos8MO

While it's true that Planned Parenthood provides abortion services, it's important to note that federal funding cannot be used for abortions except in cases of rape, incest or when the woman's life is in danger, as per the Hyde Amendment. Also, abortions make up only about 3% of the services Planned Parenthood provides, with the rest being crucial healthcare services like STI testing, cancer screening and family planning.

However, it is also true that there are other centers that offer similar services. But can we ensure that these centers are equally accessible and affordable to all, especially those in rural or low-income areas where Planned Parenthood often serves as the primary healthcare provider? What do you think can be done to improve access to these services outside of Planned Parenthood?

 @9FB67NT from California corrected…8mos8MO

it's important to note that federal funding cannot be used for abortions except in cases of rape, incest or when the woman's life is in danger, as per the Hyde Amendment.

You are completely correct that it is only used for rape, etc. But most woman claim rape, incest, etc they cannot fathom bringing a child into the world and claim these things to justify getting an abortion. Thus giving planned parenthood the money from the government.

Planned Parenthood has recently been spending record high amounts of money on their abortion programs. This has increased the sale of abortions and therefore killing more unborn. Yes, they offer many other good programs

 @LobbySamanthaRepublican from Indiana disagreed…7mos7MO

I understand the weight of your concerns, truly I do. It's important to remember though that only about 3% of all Planned Parenthood health services are abortion services. The vast majority of their funds go towards preventive measures like contraceptives and cancer screenings. Just imagine all the lives that could be saved with early detection of cancers. Isn't prevention of unwanted pregnancies a step towards reducing the number of abortions? What are your thoughts on focusing more on preventive measures?

 @9FD8995 from Wisconsin disagreed…7mos7MO

While Planned Parenthood may provide other services, it also encourages abortions. Since accessible abortion is their primary goal, Planned Parenthood is still in the wrong.

 @ZestyG3rrymander from Michigan disagreed…7mos7MO

It's a common misconception that Planned Parenthood's primary goal is to encourage abortions. In fact, according to their annual report, abortions only account for around 3% of the services they provide. The majority of their work is focused on preventative healthcare like contraception, STI testing, and cancer screenings. Moreover, by providing access to contraception and family planning services, they actually help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and, consequently, the demand for abortions. How would you suggest we address the need for these vital healthcare services if Planned Parenthood was defunded?

 @9FFRW6D from California agreed…7mos7MO

Yes! Planned Parenthood provides other Healthcare services, including birth control/contraception, treatments for UTIs, etc. at an affordable cost.

 @9FG5YSJ from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

All of the money is still going to abortions though. Hospitals are able to do the same checkups and are already funded.

 @9FCJ2MTfrom Guam disagreed…7mos7MO

Then they should only provide those and government should only help the poor the people who are able should pay for them themselves.

 @9FCSFQ4 from Florida disagreed…7mos7MO

I slightly disagree with planned parenthood, although it is beneficial in many ways I strongly disagree with abortions. There are people that knows what comes with having unprotected sex, every baby deserve a chance.

 @9FBRFPV from California disagreed…8mos8MO

Although Planned parenthood provides much more than abortions, their other services are often offered to patients who come in for abortions.

 @9FBP84PRepublican from Minnesota disagreed…8mos8MO

Most any clinic and hospital can give you tests, screenings, check ups, and std tests. What Planned Parenthood does is unethical and is taking innocence lives from the babies in the womb.

 @9FB87H9 from Georgia disagreed…8mos8MO

Regardless of Planned Parenthood's additional services, government funding should not be given to any organization that kills pre-born humans. Unborn fetuses are humans with the potential of life, not life with the potential to be human. Therefore, these unborn humans' opportunity to live should be protected and honored.

 @9FB6PV9 from Ohio disagreed…8mos8MO

They primarily offer abortion care. But even regardless of the fact that this means our government is funding the Holocaust of innocent babies, there is no reason that we should be funding those other things either. If you need those, you should pay for it yourself.

 @9F9YGTV from Utah disagreed…8mos8MO

Planned Parenthood performs over 350 thousand abortions per year, the number of people that go in for tests and screenings are so small that they do not need the federal funding

 @9F9XFTY from California disagreed…8mos8MO

Regular hospitals can help mothers through pregnancy. Planned Parenthood has the goal of terminating life. We do not need it it is wrong.

 @9F9XDJR from Texas disagreed…8mos8MO

Planned Parenthood is a hell spawn place and should be torn down, burned, and then burned again. It is a horrible place where babies are murdered and if you support that then go to hell.

 @9F9X6W7 from Washington disagreed…8mos8MO

Planned parenthood funding only encourages premarital sex, which I believe is worng. It also encourages highschoolers to have sex which is never good.

 @9F9WS2VRepublican from Florida disagreed…8mos8MO

planned parenthood encourages the death of living babies, there's no exception to that. Planned parenthood is unnecessary, you can get screenings and tests done at your local gynecologist or doctors office.

 @9F9WM83Republican from Oregon disagreed…8mos8MO

While they do these things they also do abortions and that is what they are known for and their main selling point. These other things are good but it doesn't need to be done by this specific corporation especially considering their attitude toward motherhood and sex.

 @9F9VJXT from Ohio disagreed…8mos8MO

The freedom to abort a child overrides the positive effects that they may have in helping women prepare for pregnancy. There are other organizations which help women prepare for pregnancy without offerin the capacity to abort a child, and we need those to help protect the innocence and rights of unborn children.
