These last couple days have been history-making, as we see the Supreme Court, Senate Minority Leader, and RNC all bow to Trump’s wishes, consolidating his power even as he is out of the White House. Now Putin explicitly threatens Europe at a time we may elect a president who has promised to break NATO. Heady stuff. The stakes in November couldn’t be higher.

Please stop turning every issue -- even a war that has already claimed half-a-million lives in which we're complicit with our funding -- to score points against Trump.

As a loyal Democrat for 4 decades, this will be the first time I will not vote for the reelection of a Democrat (or for any Republican) because I'm disgusted and saddened by how our party has been complicit in the mass killings of Palestinians and Ukrainians with our weapons and funds.

And in neither war did we ever have, nor do we now, any strategy to end what we're funding. What's the endgame? That'sa…  Read more

Genuinely curious to understand your position here...

Voting abstention achieves almost nothing. Sure, low voter turnout sends a message, but not one either party has to respond to and, indeed, historically hasn't.

If you truly don't care, then I'd understand that. But I would guess that, given you're commenting on these kinds of stories and have been a Democrat voter for 4 decades, you actually care deeply.

Outside of Biden or Trump and wars in Gaza and Ukraine, doesn't the idea of Democrat policies would appeal to you more?

 @KnowledgeImpalaDemocrat from North Carolina commented…3mos3MO

My contempt for Benjamin Netanyahu (& Trump) knows no bounds. But the war in Gaza is not connected to American presidential politics. Yes Putin would welcome the return of Trump the clueless because he’s a useful tool but the war in Ukraine would be happening regardless of who is the president of the United States. He plays a longer game than that and underestimating him has been a problem for European and Americans leaders for decades. So you’re being simplistic in your assessment of these conflicts.

 @ContentVoterDemocrat from North Carolina disagreed…3mos3MO

Putin started this war in 2014 and invaded the rest of Ukraine in 2022. As for Netanyahu, he didn’t start this war, Hamas did. Your comment makes no sense.

 @BrainyS3nateLibertarian from Texas agreed…3mos3MO

It’s really no surprise that both Putin and Netanyahu have both waged wars prior to an election year to get their buddy Trump re-elected, furthering the end of NATO and the USA of we know it.

 @MajorityLocustRepublican from Michigan commented…3mos3MO

The irony is palpable. Russia violates the Budapest Memorandum. Ukraine doesn't have the nuclear weapons to fire at Moscow. Now Putin uses the nuclear threat.

To double down on the irony, he calls for negotiations to end the war. What is the point in negotiating with a country that violates almost all agreements with them?

 @WelfareDickConstitution from Illinois agreed…3mos3MO

Maybe send Ukraine a few nuclear tipped Pershing missiles. That should give putin something to think about

 @TruthfulBoarsLibertarian from Kansas disagreed…3mos3MO

Ukraine is losing. It's been losing for two years, only much, much more slowly than anyone expected.

Their options are: a.) continue to fight to the death and let Russia swallow all of Ukraine; b.) arm them enough to consolidate their defenses to create a long-term strategic stalemate that may last years or generations - which makes Putin's desires moot, or; c.) have NATO fight and ignite WWIII.

You'll notice there is no "d.," the fantasy that we can so arm war-torn, profoundly outmanned Ukraine to the point that it can eject all Russians, and indefinitely hold and defend that reclaimed land - which even if capable I suspect would also ignite WWIII.

 @YearlyDanTranshumanist from Michigan agreed…3mos3MO

The same exact thing was said about Afghanistan in 1980. In the end the Soviets went home with their tails between their legs.

The war is costing Russia plenty. To what end? Even with total victory, Ukraine will never be a permanent part of Russia. On the day Putin dies it will declare independence.

The only question now is how can Putin back out and save face? Conceding more Ukrainian territory only encourages him to try again. Unless NATO membership for Ukraine was allowed.

Pay attention America: this is what dictators are like.

This November we need to vote in favor of keeping our democracy. One candidate admires Putin and would throw our country under the bus.

 @OptimisticM4jorityCA Common Sense from Massachusetts agreed…3mos3MO

A vote for our disgraced former President this November is a vote against America.

  @Make-America-MAGA-Again  from Texas disagreed…3mos3MO

Putin is lining up all the globalist NAZIs and taking them out one by one. End NATO and the Military Indu$$$trial Complex!

 @9KFSFBN  from Georgia commented…3mos3MO

Propaganda by the US to keep up public support for it. NATO has been expanding its borders, NATO and The EU has denied Russia's entry into those alliances, and constantly being hit by economic sanctions. This is also a way to stop the BRICS Alliance from forming a gold backed currency that will challenge and most likely dismantle the US dollar.

What personal values influence your stance on military aid to foreign countries?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…3mos3MO

Should the fear of escalating war deter us from supporting a nation under invasion?
